This season we see the return of the gladiator sandal (yes, again!) not that we're complaining, we love those strappy beauties!!
Here's an interesting fact - the gladiator originated from the roman empire times, when due to the extremely hot weather, men would tie together a flat piece of material of leather to a string or rope and attatch this around the foot. Gladiators come in low cut styles, which finish around the start of the ankle area, or they come in ankle length or they can even be starppy knee-high styles. Any style that is based on the roman gladiator look can be called a gladiator sandal (mainly starppy, ropey, leathery) they can be worn with most fashion clothing including shorts, skirts (short or knee-length, but not really any longer) dresses & long maxi dresses, linen trousers, cropped trousers, fitted jeans, skinny jeans...and the list goes on! That's why they're so popular, there's not much they won't go with.
Following on the tribal trend are these Pocohontas fringy suede flat sandals. They have four adjustable straps for comfort and good fit and look great with denim skirts and trendy summer dresses. For a more beachy feminine look these Jingle studded sandals are perfect for trendy summer footwear. Wear gold Jingles with plain white linen and gold jewellery for a cool summer look.
Celebrities who love glads include Mischa Barton, Sienna Miller and Kate Moss, Blake Lively and Leighton Meester (see pic).
